Mr. Sims is a general litigator with a broad range of experience in commercial litigation, insurance coverage litigation, employment litigation, wrongful death litigation, white-collar criminal defense, administrative licensing actions and social security benefits provider audits. Mr. Sims has successfully represented clients in civil and criminal jury trials, bench trials, before state and federal administrative tribunals, and in the California Court of Appeal. In addition to his litigation and trial experience, Mr. Sims has advised clients in the areas of product design licensing and web site design and licensing.

Mr. Sims joined Morison Holden Derewetzky & Prough LLP after six years as a successful sole practitioner, during which time his litigation practice consisted of approximately 70 percent plaintiff representation and 30 percent defense representation. Mr. Sims' time as a sole practitioner was highlighted by a $2 million settlement against the City of Berkeley in a wrongful death action. Prior to his stint as a sole practitioner, Mr. Sims practiced at the firms of Pillsbury Madison & Sutro, Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, Kay & Stevens, and the Law Offices of James Jay Seltzer. Mr. Sims also served as a Special Deputy Public Defender in Marin County during 1993-94.

Mr. Sims is a member of the Litigation Section of the State Bar of California. He has been admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, the California Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
